Awesome People, Doing Awesome Things: Episode 2
Carrie Wood is one of my favourite humans. She is truly an awesome person, doing an awesome thing (several awesome things, tbh)
She is a writing coach and content editor who works with hilarious, hard-working, and big-hearted women.
She uses her highly tuned intuition and expertise to help these writers find their voice and tell their stories while supporting and encouraging them to do the hard work of writing with both honesty and magic.
Carrie’s experience began in college.
During frenzied paper writing sessions to meet same-day deadlines fueled by procrastination, bad coffee, and hysterical laughter, Carrie’s roommate wrote the drafts by hand, while Carrie punched away on a portable Smith-Corona electric typewriter with a correction cartridge—simultaneously editing and typing the papers.
During her more than 30 years experience as a legal secretary, Carrie honed her editing skills by reading and re-reading drafts of countless legal documents, which confirmed for Carrie that the strength of persuasion and influence begin with the author’s voice.
Carrie helps women identify their voice, refine it, and use it to powerfully tell stories that bring hope, compassion, encouragement, and life-giving truths to readers.
All writing tells a story and everything is related, and that’s the truth.
Carrie is dyslexic, left-handed, profoundly blonde, and more than a little bit ditzy, which makes working with her fun. And, she fully believes in the Oxford comma. Period.
I’m forever grateful to Carrie for being awesome and doing things. You’ll see from our interview that she is warm, unfailingly funny, generous, and truly a human of service.
