Playlist Thursday – Songs my Sis Likes

seestasIt would be impossible for me to overstate my love for this woman. We met when we were ten, somehow survived our tumultuous twenties and made it official when I married her brother last summer. My sister, through and through, Lins has generously agreed to my begging her to put this playlist together. I can’t even tell you how many songs we’ve belted out on how many road trips.

Here’s my Lins, my love, my sister. You’ll love this playlist. I can feel it xo Er

Songs Lindsay Likes:

[emoji black sun with rays] On My Way – Valerie June (she used the tune of Friend of the Devil by the Grateful Dead and made it even awesomer in my humble opinion)

[emoji black sun with rays] Lay Down Sally – Eric Clapton

(Erin: this song reminds me of my mother-in-love!!)

[emoji black sun with rays] Guitar Town – Steve Earle (I got to see him perform in Nelson and he was wonderful)

[emoji black sun with rays] Red Dirt Girl РEmmylou Harris

[emoji black sun with rays] Brown Eyed Girl – Van Morrison (obvs)

(Erin: Obvs because A: there is no playlist without Van and B: this has been “our” song since junior high dances even though neither of us have brown eyes and we can’t remember actually choosing it as “our” song)

[emoji black sun with rays] Ruby – Kenny Rogers (I knew all the words to this song before I knew what “put her in the ground” even meant. My dad had to explain this, and many other Kenny Roger’s song-stories to me)

[emoji black sun with rays] Something in the Water – Brooke Fraser

[emoji black sun with rays] Love Sweet Love – Morcheeba (I love love!)

[emoji black sun with rays] Only the Good Die Young – Billy Joel (Alec Baldwin interviews Billy Joel on his podcast¬†Here’s The Thing and it is adorable.Alec can’t sing for sh*t but that doesn’t stop him from joining in. Awesome.)

[emoji black sun with rays] Wild Animals – The Cat Empire (It was so hard to choose only one song by these guys. They also played in Nelson and it was ah-may-zing)

[emoji black sun with rays] Mack the Knife – Bobby Darin (he is so underrated. Possibly because of Splish Splash?

[emoji black sun with rays] Starman – David Bowie (someone once told me: “Anyone who doesn’t like David Bowie has no class”. I totally agree.”

I’m an instant star. Just add water and stir

-David Bowie

[emoji black sun with rays] Don’t Stop Me Now – Queen (how is it that Cirque du Soliel hasn’t created a show from their music?)

[emoji black sun with rays] Us – Regina Spektor (I so wish I could play the piano)

[emoji black sun with rays] With Arms Outstretched – Rilo Kiley (again, hard to pick just one song)

[emoji black sun with rays] The Dreamer– The Tallest Man on Earth

I really hope you’ve enjoyed this amazing playlist by my sis. I know I have. In fact, we may need to plan a roadtrip for the purpose of singing along to it.

Happy Thursday!
