Saluting the Sun
I just need a f*cking minute.
Anybody else need to just take a minute?
Things are moving so quickly. Time is dripping by in great chunks. Wasn’t it just Christmas?
My baby is four months old. My daughter is seven and a half. I’m pushing thirty three.
Wasn’t I just eighteen?
Side note: I called my bff for her birthday earlier this week and she was feeling a bit old balls. I told her, “to me, you will always be an eighteen year old boy.” which is intended as compliment based on her sense of humour, rather than a commentary on her maturity.
But seriously, I graduated from UNIVERSITY ten years ago.
I mean, if I don’t slow down, I really will miss it.
Let’s do it together, shall we? A few deep breaths to start the day?
Hands together at our heart.
Give thanks for this day, no matter what it looks like.
Inhale, reach your arms high. Feel your rib cage expand gratefully.
Exhale, fold forward. Fold limply forward. Just hang out there. Knees soft, head heavy. Breathing.
Then look up on an inhale and feel your way into your hammies. Roll your shoulders back. Heart always open and your spine long and free and flat as can be.
Fold down and then pull all the way back up, reaching again overhead.
Hands to your heart.
I think we just had a moment, non?
It felt damn good. If you didn’t do it with me the first time, go back and do it now. Even just the breathing part. I know you need to check your email and drive the kids to school and do a million other little things today, but let’s just take a freakin’ moment.
Sunshine and still moments,
